Greetings all! I hope you have had a great week so far. Yesterday and today we took notes on cells, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and cell division. You can find the PowerPoint by clicking HERE and the fill-in-the-blank notes HERE. We also began working on making corrections on the benchmark test we took last week. The guidelines for making corrections are as follows:
FOR EACH QUESTION YOU GOT WRONG: 1. Write the question 2. Write the incorrect answer you chose 3. Write the correct answer 4. Explain why your answer is wrong or why the correct answer is right REMINDER: You are allowed to make corrections on any test or quiz we take in class. Just correct the ones you got wrong and fill out THIS form and get it signed by a parent. Turn it in for extra credit on that test or quiz. Have a great day everyone! See you tomorrow. Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break. I went up to visit my family in Michigan and this was the first trip in 7 years that there was no snow! Oh and how about those SPARTANS?? Did anyone see that awesome football game? Michigan State had the come back of the year with that blocked field goal! I was on the edge of my seat the entire game! And for those of you Buckeyes out there, congrats on beating Alabama! It was a great day for the Big 10!! Moving on from football, today we started diving deeper into the world of pathogens and disease. Students did a Gallery Walk where they read posters on 4 different kinds of pathogens and filled out a chart that they will eventually glue in their notebooks for a reference guide. See below for the links to these items if you were absent. We also received our new set of vocabulary words today. These words will be due on Monday, January 12th and we will have a quiz on these words as well that day. See below for the list of words. I am looking forward to the 2nd half of the school year with all of you. Keep in mind, the 2nd nine weeks is ending NEXT WEEK which means if you have any missing or make-up work you want to turn in you need to do that ASAP!! ALSO, don't forget you can fix any test or quiz for a better grade. Just fill out THIS form, correct your test or quiz, staple them together and turn it in.
Hey there everyone! Today was an awesome-ly fantastic day in science! We learned about acids, bases, and the pH scale. We started the day off with taking some notes in our interactive notebook. See below for the link to the powerpoint and the fill in the blank notes for your notebooks. Afterwards, we moved on to our pH lab where my students were able to test 3 different mystery solutions with red and blue litmus paper to see if they were an acid, base or neutral solution. I have to say, all of my classes did a great job with this investigation and I think they had a great time doing it too! I have also put a link below of the lab report. Checkout the pictures to see my students in action!
Students also received their Periodic Table/Element, Compound, Mixture TEST back today. Don't forget, if you want to make a better grade on the test be sure to pick up a copy of the "Request to Fix a Test" paper in my classroom. Fill it out, follow the directions and return it to me to get extra credit on the test. Need a copy, click the link below. REMINDER: Tonight is HJM's spaghetti dinner OPEN HOUSE!
