This is some crazy weather we are having here in Eastern NC! I thought I left the northern weather behind when I moved here but apparently it has followed me! With these last 2 days off we have fallen a bit behind in the schedule. Today students completed STATIONS (station 4 VOCAB MATCH goes with these stations as well) about healthy living and completed the PACKET to go with it. Students also turned in their vocab words that were due. Tomorrow, students will be required to have their study guide ready to go over. We will be taking the benchmark assessment TOMORROW after we go over the study guide and the classroom test will be taken on Tuesday. Make sure you are studying for these assessments!!
High school counselors will be in our classroom on Monday to discuss students' high school schedule. Stay warm everyone!

Happy Monday! Today students took FILL-IN-THE-BLANK NOTES from a POWERPOINT on healthy living. They also received their STUDY GUIDE for the benchmark test on Friday and classroom test on Monday. Be sure to be studying for these assessments and get the study guide done, it is due Thursday.
Just a reminder that your vocab is due tomorrow. Be sure to get that completed! Also, the high school curriculum fair is TONIGHT!! It is important that you attend this open house to get important information about your high school classes. See you tomorrow! Hey there everyone! Today students took their quiz on photosynthesis and cellular respiration. We then transitioned into the second part of the molecular biology unit on healthy living. We kicked it off by practicing our literacy skills by reading this TEXT and answering text dependent questions in their science notebooks.
Continue to work on you vocab that is due Tuesday, and don't forget tomorrow is a half day and you have no school on Monday. Have a great day! Happy Hump Day everyone! I hope your week has gone by smoothly! Today students completed an assignment that helped them pick apart photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Click HERE for a copy of that assignment. For homework, students were asked to write a "recipe" for photosynthesis and cellular respiration. You can find a copy of that paper HERE.
Be sure you go home tonight and really brush up on your knowledge of this subject because THERE IS A QUIZ TOMORROW!!!!! Make sure you know the chemical equations for both processes as well. Good luck! Hello everyone! Just a quick update to get you caught up on what's been going on in Science the last couple of days. Yesterday, students took their vocab quiz on last week's words and also received a new set of words they should be working on and studying at home (see below for those words). We also worked out of the NC Ready workbooks yesterday so if you were absent, see me when you come back. Today we will be filling out a couple graphic organizers on PHOTOSYNTHESIS and CELLULAR RESPIRATION. We also completed an activity that allowed students to put the chemical equation for photosynthesis in order. You can find a copy of that assignment HERE.
Check back tomorrow for more updates. Have a great day! NEW VOCAB DUE 2/17 Glucose Protein Carbohydrate Lipid ATP Cellular respiration Photosynthesis Stomata Yesterday and today students traveled through 7 different stations that enlightened them on several different aspects of Molecular Biology. See below for links to the different activities used at each station.
Please remember that your vocab is due Monday. Remember to study for the QUIZ on Monday as well. STATIONS POSTERS STUDENT STATION PAPER VIDEOS FOR STATIONS (watch the mitosis and meiosis videos and fill out the worksheet that goes with each video) Have a great weekend and see you Monday!! Greetings all! I hope you have had a great week so far. Yesterday and today we took notes on cells, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and cell division. You can find the PowerPoint by clicking HERE and the fill-in-the-blank notes HERE. We also began working on making corrections on the benchmark test we took last week. The guidelines for making corrections are as follows:
FOR EACH QUESTION YOU GOT WRONG: 1. Write the question 2. Write the incorrect answer you chose 3. Write the correct answer 4. Explain why your answer is wrong or why the correct answer is right REMINDER: You are allowed to make corrections on any test or quiz we take in class. Just correct the ones you got wrong and fill out THIS form and get it signed by a parent. Turn it in for extra credit on that test or quiz. Have a great day everyone! See you tomorrow. Today, students are jumping into our new unit on Molecular Biology. We will be learning all about cells, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, and cell division. Students received their new set of vocab words today (see below for the list). These words will be due on Monday the 9th and they should be studying them because there will be a quiz on these words that day as well.
To start the unit off today, students were required to read THIS article (courtesy of https://sciencewithmsbarton.wordpress.com/) . While reading students were to write down any words they did not know and define them on a separate sheet of paper. Then they were required to answer the questions at the end of the article in their science notebooks. This unit tends to be a difficult one for students to grasp so it is imperative that you are studying at home every night in order to be successful with this unit. Hopefully we can come out on top for our next benchmark! NEW VOCAB WORDS cell membrane cell wall nucleus chloroplast mitochondria ribosome cytoplasm prokaryote eukaryote organelle mitosis meiosis |
