In order to supplement students' knowledge of oceans, today we started a station activity where students traveled to 8 different stations reading and exploring different interactives. The stations included information about:
1. Deep Ocean Exploration 2. Marine Life Forms 3. Ocean/Marine Food Webs 4. Oceans as a Living Resource 5-8. Zones of the Ocean We will continue these stations tomorrow and then we will be off for SPRING BREAK!! You can find links to all the materials for today and tomorrow's activity below. Have a WONDERFUL and RESTFUL Spring Break and I will see you back here on the 13th! Today students took notes on 8.E.1.2. This part of the unit explores the oceans, marine ecosystems, and estuaries. We used this POWERPOINT to take notes on this GRAPHIC ORGANIZER. Students glued these notes into their notebooks so they can study them at home.
Remember to stay ahead of your new vocab words. If you get them done this week you won't have anything to do over the break for science class! Take a look at the diagrams below to learn more about what today's lesson was on. Today in class students received their new set of vocab words (see below). These words will be due on the Monday we come back from Spring Break so make sure you are getting those words done and studying them! We also began working on a couple different reading assignments. The first assignment was on ESTUARIES. Students were required to read and answer the questions at the end of the reading. The second assignment was all about OCEAN ZONES AND MARINE FOOD WEBS. This assignment required students to read and then create 5 of their own questions based on the text. There is a possibility I will use some of these questions on their test at the end of this unit. This picture will also help students understand the ocean zones better. They should know details about the shore, the open ocean, and the deep ocean. Have a great evening and don't forget about that vocab!!
