Hello to all my wonderful scientists! Today students reviewed for our test tomorrow. We played Quiz-Quiz-Trade, a game where each student gets a card with a question on it and has to get with a partner and answer each others questions. After, they trade cards and find a new partner. Students also received a study guide and had the opportunity to work on this in class but will have to be finished for homework this evening to help them study. See below for a copy of that study guide.
Be sure to get in some good studying time tonight with your notes and vocab, and get plenty of rest so you are wide awake and on you A-game tomorrow for our test on the Periodic Table and Elements, Compounds, & Mixtures!!! Have a great night and good luck studying!! PTE and Elements, Compounds, & Mixtures Study Guide

Phew! What a week! Is it just me or has time flown by super fast? This week has been all about the periodic table of elements. Today students worked on a PTE scavenger hunt and will continue this assignment tomorrow in class. For homework this evening, students will complete a paper called "Who Am I". It is a paper that gives clue about a specific element and using the PTE, students will identify which element it is. This assignment is due back in class tomorrow (9/19/14). See below if you need an extra copy of this assignment.
On top of all that, all core teachers sent home progress reports today. Please make sure these get signed by a parent or guardian and turned in tomorrow morning. Don't forget tomorrow is a half day for students. School is dismissed at 12:30pm. I hope you all enjoy your extra weekend time! NOTE!! You will have a TEST on elements, compounds, mixtures, and the periodic table next week on TUESDAY (9/23/14) PTE Scavenger Hunt (source: http://sciencewithmsbarton.wordpress.com/) "Who Am I?" PTE practice After me being absent for a few days we are finally back into the swing of things! I always hate being out but sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do. Yesterday, students took their vocabulary quiz on atoms, elements, compounds, and mixtures. They also received their new set of vocabulary words for this week. See below for the words and details for the next quiz. Today, we dove right in to the Periodic Table of Elements (PTE). We took some notes, colored the PTE, and for homework students will be required to do some reading and answer questions. Need any of these resources? See below for the links. We will be working with the PTE for the rest of this week and part of next and then moving on to chemical and physical properties of matter. I am looking forward to seeing how well my students do with this subject! Stay tuned for information on an upcoming test on what we have learned so far! Have a great day!!!
